Nativity play in January !

Spectacle Theatre young people are performing their version of a nativity play on wednesday the 26 02 2021

Rehearsals for the original performance , were interrupted by the xmas lockdown. The play was moved online and shown to a small group prior to xmas. This performance has become an annual event at Ty Ddewi in ystrad Rhondda. Tomorrow night we will aim to perform it once again for residents of Ty Ddewi

Spectacle Theatre Ltd are seeking a creative workshop practitioner

Spectacle Theatre Ltd are looking for an experienced practitioner to lead on adapting , engaging with and delivery of its services to young people aged 10-18 in RCT.

With the aid of financial support from BBC Children in Need this new post will work closely with the Theatre Manager and lead on the company’s response to Covid 19.

The post will be  based in Porth and working across RCT. Rates of pay are based on Equity / ITC terms and conditions .

The post is part time (21 hours a week ) and runs from October 2020 until March the 31st 2021

Going Online !

Spectacle Theatre Ltd are aiming to run its workshop sessions online over the next few months.

The Creating Progress – Creu Cynnydd group will continue to rehearse and develop its Jekyl and Hyde project on a monday evening . We aim to start on Monday the 30th of March 2020.

The writers group will move to Wednesday – time to be agreed . We aim to finish the one act plays and perhaps organise a one act play readings to celebrate when this Virus has passed.

Paul Swift has agreed to run devising sessions on line – those in the existing groups will be notified when – we hope to start in April 2020

The Thursday group will continue to meet online

We aim to deliver Chair Dancing sessions , Keep fit and Cookery

Spectacle Update 19 03 2020

Spectacle are currently working from home. We intend to develop our services for delivery online. We intend to maintain contact with all of our participants on a regular basis whilst the Corona Virus Pandemic is with us.

We will be in contact in the next few days of how we intend to do this .

Chair Dancing with Women’s Shed

On monday the 23rd of September, Spectacle will run an Armchair Dancing workshop with Women’s Shed in Porth . This is part of the BeActive project running over the next three years .

Spectacle Theatre Ltd seek a Creative Workshop Facilitator

‘Spectacle’ are looking for a creative practitioner , to work as part of a small team, delivering and creating workshops for young people and elderly residents. You will be  based in Porth and working across RCT. Rates of pay are based on Equity / ITC terms and conditions .

The post begins in March 2019 and will be a Part Time  post for a minimum of six months. It is our intention to create a new part time post within the company for the right candidate .

The post will  

  • Create and deliver theatre-based workshops for young people
  • Provide support and aid development of young people with complex needs.
  • Perform as an actor within workshop practice
  • Carry out risk assessment and ensure high level of safe guarding at all workshops 
  • Engage with volunteers and support their development
  • Ensure monitoring and evaluation documents and evidence is collected

The post requires

  • The ability to drive as travel across the region is required
  • An enhanced DBS certificate check
  • Ability to drive a long wheel-based van ( training can be provided)
  • Fluency in written and spoken Welsh Language is desirable
